Shipping costs added per item on each order for our own products

I read that there is a fixed rate of $3.00 per order for items we add to our site which are ordered by our customers.

Is there a way to add an additional .75 or $1 or more for each additional item of ours that is ordered because I would
be paying out more in shipping costs than the customers and so it would not work for me to add my own products.

If there is a way to do this, please advise me on the instructions to set this up.

I still have not received a response to this issue so I still have not been able to add products to the site.
For me to keep a store open, the additional shipping costs will need to be an option added for each additional item of
ours that is added to the catalog.  Everytime I phone in and leave messages for assistance, calls are never returned to me
and everytime I have tried to call I always get an answering service so now I just do not leave messages anymore.

The customer service is very frustrating.  Its been weeks since I started my store and the reason why I signed up
to pay activation fees and hosting is so I could add my own products.

Please advise on this issue as soon as possible.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but you can add a shipping surcharge that will be added at the check out.  The drawback (at least in my opinion) is that this is specifically listed as a shipping surcharge on a separate line item, and not just automatically added to the shipping charge, which would be my preference.  But that surcharge can be added on the store settings tab, and then basic settings.  The shipping surcharge is at the very bottom of that page.

Also you can add fixed shipping per item. For example state that each item you have ships for $5.00 or something similar.

New options will be coming to allow store owners to specifiy per item and per unit of weight charges. For example, that second day air is $10 + $2 per pound of weight. Those options will be in by the end of the year.

Admin wrote that the feature to be able to add extra shipping costs per item added from our inventory that the customer adds to the shopping cart would be taken care of by the end of the year.  I certainly hope it gets added way before that because for our business and alot of other businesses are hesitant to add their products until this has been taken care of.  It really should be top priority on their list because all sellers are paying monthly fees for hosting with them to have their site up and by going around it and having businesses just add a handling fee is not a good thing to do, its just bad business because for 1, buyers do not like the extra fees and will be turned off to making any purchases.  So at this point I have not had 1 sale on this site because like I said I for one am hesitant to add my products and that was the main reason I paid the "activation fees" and all the monthly fees.  Its a shame that its so hard to get any response back when I phone in as well and that all I have to use is through the forum.  

Please take care of this matter as soon as possible with the extra items added to cart, added costs.  I am not sure why admin came up with a $3 fixed rate but with the rising costs of shipping companies charge to get the packages out to the customers, we simply cannot afford to pay out more in shipping than the customer does, there would be no profit to make for our efforts for products we add to inventory. 

*Each month that goes by that admin is not making this modification, we are paying hosting fees and cannot do anything we need to for the site as far as adding our products.  I think that admin should have thought about this type of thing before they started hosting this program. If someone wants to list even 1 item such as a gift basket that is a heavy product and costs $12 - $15 to ship, we can't charge the customer only $3 for shipping.......................................
